Light is closely tied to our lives. It is both beautiful and magical. It is beautiful because it allows me to see the world I live in, and it is magical because it changes with time and I cannot touch it. I have often wondered why light always appears with space, instead of color, shape, or shadow. After gaining a deep understanding of the perspectives of many artists, I found my answer. Space is the feeling that light gives.
As I mentioned before, the beauty brought by natural light changes with time. Capturing the most beautiful moment in time is what my artwork aims to express. The inspiration for my work comes from my own life, and I want to showcase the beautiful moments in my life through light and space, conveying my feelings at that time to the audience.
I created a city night scene using a two-way mirror. I often spend a long time on airplanes, and I can see the city at night through the window. This scenery gives me a tranquil feeling. In that moment, I can think about nothing, and the only thing to do is to enjoy that moment of relaxation. I hope to convey this feeling to my audience. This is also why I believe that the feeling is the most important aspect of light and space.
