Yasmeen Nematt Alla

Origin: Tkaronto, Turtle Island
Birth Year: 1995

Yasmeen Nematt Alla is an Egyptian immigrant and settler based in Tkaronto, Turtle Island (colonially known as Toronto, Ontario). She is an artist and art worker who creates machinations that attest to the existence of the Brown Disabled Queer Self as a resistance against systems programmed to forget us. Her making manifests as an ululation: a howling for grief and a chiming for joy, an investigation of spaces that can hold wailing in all the forms it takes.
