Nicholas Vladimir Elbakidze

Elbakidze graduated from the School of Constructed Environments at the Parsons School of Design with Honors in Interior Design.

Before joining the Sculpture department at Cranbrook, Elbakidze first gained design experience working at Jane Grant Interiors. Soon after, Elbakidze served as a studio assistant under both Diana Shpungin and Susan Leopold.

Elbakidze is currently working under Leyden Lewis of Leyden Lewis Design Studio.

With an affinity for high-contrast situations, Elbakidze creates objects and environments that employ a subversion of Iconography and Humor to alter the vernacular of Interior Design. Unfazed by the barriers between High and Low Art,

Elbakidze melds material and consumer cultures as a means of leveling societal expectations between the Tastemaker and the Artist.
