Chenyu Nie

Origin: Houston, TX, USA
Birth Year: 1999

Chenyu thinks about the various relationships between her materials and the shapes they take. Some touch. Others are separated. Some agree with one another. With others, there is tension. Through layering, some content is obvious and transparent while other content is more opaque. It is like the world we are living in. Some information is lost in conversation, language that is spoken or felt. Yet some hidden information is obtained through implication and discovery, by taking away parts of each layer. Through this process, Chenyu creates a system. A visual system that is not only seen but felt.
